The European Academy of Quranic Studies (EAQS) was launched in partnership with the British Muslim Heritage Centre with a 2-day international seminar on Tadabbur Al-Quran. Tadabbur is the process of using intellect to ponder, analyse, contemplate, reflect, examine and understand the text of The Holy Quran. The Institute is managed by a Board of Directors under the guidance of a Board of Scholars and Advisors.
The list of international speakers included: Shaykh Abdullah Basfar (Madina), Professor Zagloul al Najjar (Egypt), Professor Abdullah Mangood (Egypt), Dr Muhammad Saleh (Al Azhar, Egypt), Dr Hanaa Abu Dawoud (King Abdul Aziz University, Saudi Arabia). The European Academy of Quranic Studies, a not-for-profit academic institution based at the British Muslim Heritage Centre, has been established to promote the study, teaching and research of Al Tadabbur (Reflection and Contemplation), as well as other Quranic Sciences, such as Quranic history and Tafseer (Interpretation).
The Academy seeks to promote a balanced and comprehensive understanding of the Quran and its relevance to contemporary issues. They aim to achieve this by organising courses, seminars and by publishing educational materials for a wide variety of audiences including students, teachers and members of the wider society both Muslim and non-Muslim.
