Upcoming Projects مشاريعنا القادمة
The British Muslim Heritage Centre is currently working on completing the following projects. We will be launching them very soon.
Serving a wide variety of Halal beverages, fresh juices, tea, ice creams, snacks and coffee, the coffee shop will be a unique yet casual environment for meeting of Muslims and non-Muslims. It will be a particular attraction for youth and families and a great place for visitors of the Centre to take a break.
The contemporary styled lounge will host a souvenir stall selling prayer mats, mugs and similar heritage artifacts. The lounge will also include a book shop for BMHC publications and other Islamic stationery items. We also intend on setting up a boutique displaying Islamic clothing.
The Coffee Lounge will be a fusion point for local communities and groups, a meeting point within a “Halal” environment, that can be used for a business chat or a family time out.
Mortuary & Funeral Service
Part of BMHC’s initiative is to provide quality services & facilities to the Muslim Community. Therefore, the Centre aims to set up a fully equipped mortuary and funeral service. The idea developed after consultations with members and leaders of the local community, who agreed that there is a need for such a service. Because, local mosques have limited resources and physical capacity, the BMHC will be well-suited to provide this purpose.
The service will include:
- fully equipped funeral car
- dedicated area for the bathing or ghusul of the deceased
- fully functional morgue
PHASE ONE: Coordinating and Signposting ServiceBMHC needs at least four dedicated volunteers (preferably of retirement age)Liaison with GP, hospitals, Coroners, undertakers and Registration Office.
PHASE TWO: Mortuary ServiceBMHC needs approximately £20,000/- for preparing the room, buying equipment and materials etc. as well as a funeral car. If you can donate towards any of these facilities, please get in contact with the Centre.
