The British Muslim Heritage Centre is looking to appoint a dynamic Sales and Marketing Executive that will help in promoting the Centre and the Radio Station securing maximum commercial benefit which will in turn support the BMHC’s charitable objectives.

 Since its inception in 2004 and sub-sequential move to its current premises in 2006, the BMHC has evolved into what it is today:

 Attracting more than 120,000 annual visitors.

  • Launching more than 30 different services and projects.
  • Establishing partnerships with important local, national and international institutes.

 Heritage Radio is dedicated to serving the Muslim community in the region and helping to build and strengthening community cohesion. Broadcasting on 1602 AM directly to more than 500,000 residents in the Greater Manchester area, and streamed lived across the globe, Heritage Radio is a fantastic opportunity for established as well as aspiring radio professionals.

Job Description

Purpose

The British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) is located in Manchester in a prestigious venue that aims to celebrate Muslim heritage and make it accessible to all, helping to make our communities stronger and more cohesive.

Since its inception in 2004 and sub-sequential move to its current premises in 2006, the BMHC has evolved into what it is today:

  • Attracting more than 120,000 annual visitors.
  • Launching more than 30 different services and projects.
  • Establishing partnerships with important local, national and international institutes.

The BMHC has recently launched Heritage Radio, a 24 hour radio station dedicated to providing high quality Islamic and community programs. Heritage Radio will reach out to over 500,000 people who live in the Greater Manchester area. Also with the help of live internet streaming, people around the globe will also be able to listen in.

The BMHC is looking for a Sales and Marketing Executive that will help in promoting the Centre and the Radio Station securing maximum commercial benefit which will in turn support the BMHC’s charitable objectives.

You will concentrate on clients throughout Greater Manchester and surrounding areas developing new campaign ideas, demonstrating great account management skills and be motivated by winning new business. The ideal person will have a background in selling and marketing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities – The Centre

  • Maximise the income being generated through The Marquee and other conferencing and meeting facilities.
  • Line management of Cafeteria and Gift Shop staff.
  • Develop the online shop to ensure the offer reflects the BMHC brand and increase sales.
  • Explore feasibility and pilot new income streams, particularly events utilising the centre’s 8-acre site and all facilities.
  • Review existing income streams, benchmark costs and make recommendations for future development.
  • Work with the General Manager and develop marketing campaigns and materials to increase sales and activity in all income streams.
  • Work with colleagues across the Centre to share ideas and build a culture of enterprise and innovation
  • Develop partnerships that could enhance commercial opportunities at the Centre.

Main Duties and Responsibilities – Heritage radio

  • ‪Promote the Heritage Radio brand, becoming a representative for the station
  • ‪Seeking new business opportunities, mainly with direct clients, but with some agency crossover
  • ‪To devise and plan bespoke campaigns to meet the customers objectives
  • ‪To work with the production team to implement campaign ideas
  • ‪To account manage the client, reporting back results to them.

Key Measure of Success

  • ‪To achieve monthly targets
  • ‪To ensure full accurate information about potential leads is passed onto the relevant teams and to follow all leads.

Person Specification

 ‪ Be highly sales motivated

  • ‪ Be a confident self starter who is proactive, sense of responsibility, friendly and hard working
  • ‪ Have an ability to develop ideas that meet the needs of the client
  • ‪ Have excellent negotiation skills
  • ‪ Great face-to-face and telephone communication skills.
  • ‪ Have a proven track record of selling advertising and sponsorship ideally in a radio environment, but not essential.
  • ‪ Ability to spot and put forward ways to maximise revenues by utilising new and innovative ideas
  • ‪ Able to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • ‪ Able to form excellent relationships internally and externally
  • ‪ Good attention to detail
  • ‪ Open and honest, with an ability to develop personal integrity quickly
  • ‪ Enthusiastic and persuasive
  • ‪ Results driven
  • ‪ Good numeracy skills
  • ‪ Is willing to undertake training and development as and when required
  • ‪ Full Clean Driving License
