Why you should support us

The reasons to support the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) are many. With it being a large new National Centre based in Manchester that aims to reach out to a wide diversity of people on local, national and international levels, something which is becoming increasingly important in this global community.

The BMHC was established partly in response to the growing need for greater community cohesion and improved understanding between different sectors of society, be they of a religious, cultural, ethnic or socio-economic nature. It aims to help shape a cohesive British society through promoting a common sense of belonging to British values and citizenship and by facilitating social engagement and dialogue through its services and programmes.

The Centre aims to create an 'open to all' ethic and environment by opening its doors to the whole community regardless of faith, culture, ethnicity or background. In addition to this, the Centre aims to facilitate access to education about Muslim Heritage and the rich contribution it has made to civil society as well as to aid in the general development of the community, be it in an educational, social, economic or spiritual way. Such facilities can only be made available if the refurbishment works of the building are completed.

The recent economic recession has understandably reduced the funding for this project. Subsequently we have changed our strategy from refurbishing the entire building to refurbishing only the areas which will be able to generate income to contribute for the rest of the refurbishment works. We are aiming to open the first phase of this project for you by August 2010, so that you may begin to benefit from what the project aims to achieve. For this we primarily require your financial support. Any other means of support will be most welcome.
